A Childhood Lost - Damon Lee Petrie
generally, i like the premise of the story but i felt that it was too short. one event rushed into another and the next thing we know, Barton is all grown up and has grandchildren.
i wanted a deeper look into the connection our protagonist made with the guardian of the oak and other magical beings he had the privilege to witness and encounter. as i mentioned earlier, one thing just led into another. there were wonderful stories within the story that were left untold and i wanted to read more about those.
i have no doubt that children will enjoy Barton's tale but as an adult, i felt that i missed out on a lot of good things. i wish there were an expanded version for older readers in the works.
