A Touch of Greek - Tina Folsom
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea, Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn; Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea; Or hear old Triton blow his wreathe'd horn - William Wordsworth

Zeus' judgment is harsh. Triton, Poseidon's son, is stripped of his powers for seducing Zeus' mistress. cast down to the mortal world, Triton can only regain his godly status by finding a woman who will love him for his kindness and selflessness and not his physical attributes. he finds Sophia who is virtually blind and in need of a stay-in healthcare worker. he assumes the role and takes care of her. with the assistance of his friends Hermes, Cupid and the faithful Dionysus, Triton hopes that Sophia might just be the woman who will hand him the key back to Olympus.
the author presents a world of demigods, gods and goddesses whose behavior and pursuits are no different from us mortals. her novel speaks of friendship, intrigue, betrayal and true love. there is humor too in all the right places.
i admire Sophia for her strength in dealing with her handicap. at times, her good heart gets in the way of overlooking the injustices heaped upon her by her cousin Michael but her conscience embraces reason and she emerges a more confident person. Triton, on the other hand, evolves from being self centered to being compassionate, giving and respectful of women.
i admit that i am a sucker for vampire stories (no pun intended) but author Tina Folsom's latest contribution to the paranormal realm is a welcome respite.
Edith Hamilton introduced me to Mythology and Tina Folsom has once again rekindled my love for it in A Touch of Greek. it is the first book in the Out of Olympus series and is a delightful refreshing romantic story of what happens when gods and mortals meet and fall in love. reading it and staying up late till four o'clock in the morning was worth every second. this book comes highly recommended and i definitely look forward to the next ones in the series.
