Review

“For those of us who want a change from the dating status quo (I, for one, have an 11 p.m. curfew!), there's a more creative way to meet someone, or at least date, ... We are the Internet generation, and at the click of a mouse, we can find just about anything, including that elusive date.” - Amy Fisher
authors Les and Leslie Parrott make a strong case for and in defense of online dating. this book is divided into three parts:
* 6 big myths of online dating
* 6 ways to know if online dating is for you
* 5 questions you absolutely must ask before signing up
these major points cover:
* the benefits of online dating
* how to choose the right online dating site(s)
* raising one's love IQ
* similarities and differences between online dates and real-world or traditional ones and
* pitfalls to avoid when dating whether online or not
dot.com dating was written for Christians looking for love and marriage in cyberspace. the book contains snippets of what real men and women experienced before , during and after cyberdating. it also includes some statistics and studies.
call me old-school but i really do not believe in finding true love online. however, i find the book informative especially with regard to the idea of employing algorithms that narrow matching preferences and what the authors call "the science of relationship expertise."
i would like to point out again that the book's target audience are Christians of legal age residing in the United States of America. this may be a downside for non-Christians and those living elsewhere. these groups, though, can still learn valuable information and practical suggestions should they decide to turn to their mouse and keyboard in helping them look for their soulmates.
